Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath
Sushant Singh Rajput received a lot of appreciation for his riveting performance in the 2018 tragic love story Kedarnath. The movie also marked the debut of actress Sara Ali Khan. However, in a recent interview, the director of the film Abhishek Kapoor recalled the late actor’s mental state during the shoot of the same.
Talking about the same, Abhishek revealed to host Siddharth Kannan that Sushant used to feel isolated and helpless on the sets of the movie. Kapoor said, “He was a bit disturbed in those days. He was a very strong guy mentally and physically he could take on anything. He was a great guy. I think he was finding himself to be very isolated and quite helpless. He was drifting away.”
However, Abhishek recalled Sushant’s dedication towards his character while working in the movie. The director remembered how Sushant and Sara were required to shoot an entire sequence in the rain during brutally cold weather in Kedarnath. However, the Dil Bechara actor went on to shoot the same during their first schedule which also motivated Sara to perform the scene. He said, “Sushant led the way. He did it first and the next day Sara saw him doing it and she also realized that okay if this guy is doing it, I will also do. That’s what drove her to do it.”
Not only this but Abhishek also revealed how Sushant had stunned him with his hard work for his 2013 debut film Kai Po Che which was also directed by Kapoor. He shared an anecdote, “I remember Sushant being very overweight when we auditioned him and my condition to him was that, I showed him a picture of an American actor and I said, ‘You got to look like this because you’re a cricketer.’ He wouldn’t say much. He was not a man of too many words. But in 3 months, he worked so hard and he would be there at six in the morning for cricket practice, the gym training and by the end of it, he looked like it.”
The actor was found dead at his home on June 14, 2020. He passed away allegedly by suicide but the investigation surrounding his death is reportedly still on. His family members are still seeking justice for his tragic demise.
