Independence Day box office clash: Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, Pushpa 2 and Vedaa to release on August 15

This Independence Day is set to be a treat for cinephiles, as four multi-star films look set to clash at the box office. From Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 to Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, you may have a plethora of options. If all goes as per current plans, then you'll need to plan an extended weekend at the theatres as Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 and John Abraham's Vedaa will also compete for eyeballs.

Independence Day 2024 releases

Stree 2

The makers of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 revealed the release date of the film through a social media post. The caption read, “Iss swatantrata diwas, aa rahi hai #Stree fir se! #Stree2 in cinemas this Independence Day, 15th August 2024. Catch the #Stree2 Teaser exclusively in cinemas with #Munjya from today.”

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and is a sequel film to Rajkummar and Shraddha’s 2018 film Stree.

Khel Khel Mein

Akshay Kumar’s comedy-drama also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal. It will also have its theatrical release on August 15. The makers took to X and wrote, “This Independence Day, step into a mad world of laughter, drama & loads of fun! Mark your calendars for August 15, 2024, when #KhelKhelMein hits the theatres.”

Helmed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Shashikant Simha and Ajay Rai.

Pushpa 2

The sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule is also being planned as an Independence Day release. It is helmed by Sukumar, who was the man behind Pushpa, which was released in theatres in December 2021, setting the box office on fire. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna. Apart from them, Sunil, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bhardwaj and Jagdish will also be seen in the sequel.

Vedaa

John Abraham's Vedaa will also be released on August 15. Unveiling the release date of the film, the makers captioned the post, “This Independence Day, woh aa rahe hain… Insaaf ki jung ladne! #Vedaa releasing in cinemas on 15th August. 🇮🇳.”

Directed by Nikkhil Advani and written by Aseem Arrora, Vedaa stars John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, and is produced by Zee Studios, Umesh Kr Bansal, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, John Abraham, and Minnakshi Das. The film also stars Abhishek Bannerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia.
