Hrithik Roshan’s girlfriend Saba Azad’s real name is Saba Grewal; here’s why she changed it

When Hrithik Roshan was snapped with a mystery girl earlier this year, fans were intrigued to find out more about her. They wanted to know who the beauty is that swept the Greek God of Bollywood off his feet. As we all know today, it was none other than the gorgeous and very talented Saba Azad . An actor and a singer, she began her journey in the entertainment industry with Dil Kabaddi before playing a lead role in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge opposite Saqib Saleem.

But did you know Saba’s real name is actually Saba Grewal? In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, the actress revealed why she changed her last name. She was qupted saying, “The name on my passport is Saba Grewal – my father is of Sikh origin and my mother of Muslim, but neither practiced religion nor imposed their opinions upon me. They are atheists. Azad was my nani’s pen name. I liked the sound of it and the meaning of course. The want for freedom is the most human instinct. So (with her permission) I adopted it as my stage name.”

Well, apart from her love story with Hrithik, Saba has been in the news majorly for two reasons-- her melodious voice and her performance in Nikkhil Advani’s web series Rocket Boys as Parwana Irani a.k.a Pipsy. The actress also won hearts last year with Netflix’s anthology Feels Like Ishq. She had featured in Danish Aslam’s She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not.
