Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali marked his web series debut with the magnum opus series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix. From drawing praise for stunning acting performances, the series also received much criticism from the audience for Sharmin Segal’s ‘expressionless acting.’ Now that the makers have announced Season two of Heeramandi, the audience wants the makers to replace Sharmin Segal with Aditi Rao Hydari.
Netizens react to Heeramandi Season 2 announcement
The makers of Heeramandi recently took to Instagram and revealed that season two of Heeramandi is in the works.
After Heermandi Season 2 was announced, netizens took to social media and requested the makers to replace Sharmin with Bibbojaan’s character, played by actress Aditi Rao Hydari. Heeramandi fans flooded the comment section of the post with some requesting the makers to replace Sharmin with Aditi for Alamzeb’s role.
One social media user wrote, “Petition to not cast Sharmin as Alamzeb,” while another said, “Just remove Alam's character or replace Sharmin.” “Ufff amazing. Just don't do it with Sharmin that's all,” yet another user said.
Speaking about different plotlines on how to remove Sharmin from the series, one user wrote, “We want Alamzeb died in first scene of first episode,” while another wrote, “Kill her in the first episode itself.”

Heeramandi Season 2 plot
Speaking about the plotline of season two, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali told Variety that the new season will showcase the courtesans moving from Lahore to the film world and settling either in Kolkata or Mumbai where they will continue their tradition of dancing and singing.
Meanwhile, Monika Shergill, VP of content, Netflix India, said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has intricately woven magic to bring Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar to life.
Starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sharmin Segal, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar premiered on Netflix on May 1.
