'Gonna be a massive flop': Varun Dhawan to romance Janhvi Kapoor instead of Alia Bhatt in Dulhania 3, fans left angry

The Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) remain one of the most adored franchise in the romantic-comedy genre. Now, there has been an interesting development surrounding the third installment of the franchise. According to a news report in Peeping Moon, Varun is all set to headline the third part but there seems to be a change in the female lead. Instead of Alia, Janhvi Kapoor has been roped in to romance the actor. However, this has left fans fuming in anger.

Talking about the same, the report states that Alia will not be a part of the franchise and Janhvi has stepped into her shoes. The reason for the Raazi actress’ backing out of the project seems to be her choc-a-block schedule. This will also mark Janhvi and Varun’s second collaboration after Bawaal. But it seems like fans aren’t too pleased with this development and want Alia instead opposite Varun. The news has particularly displeased all the ‘Varia’ fans out there which is a ship name for Varun and Alia.

One of the netizens stated, “Stop!! It's not 'DULHANIA' anymore. We waited for like 7 years for Dulhania 3 aur kya mila humko only disappointment!! It's gonna be a massive flop.” A user said, “ALIA IS THE ONLY DULHANIA OF VARUN.” A netizen went on to say, “Dulhaniya series meant Alia and Varun together. No way interested in this.” A user went on to say, “ I mean Dulhania movie franchise was about VARIA only then how can @karanjohar @shashankkhaitan replacing alia with janhvi, seriously!! Well Varun and Janhvi was good in bawaal but not in Dulhania franchise because Dulhania series is meant for VARIA only.” A netizen said, “Oh please! No Varia - No Dulhania.”

Shashank Khaitan will be directing the project. The third part is touted to have an entirely different flavor having a different ‘Dulhaniya’ on board this time. The pre-production of the movie has already begun and it is expected to go on floors soon.
