She recently dropped the first look poster on her Instagram handle and offered a glimpse at her character Sonam, a modern woman from Benaras, who navigates heartbreak and self-discovery in this upcoming heartwarming tale of a middle-class family. In an exclusive interview with DesiMartini, she admitted that it was working on this film that gave her the utmost satisfaction as an actor.
The Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actress has long been away from the limelight and missed being on set. When asked why she chose Yaatris to revive herself on the big screen, she said, “When it was narrated to me it gave me a feel-good factor. It is the kind of cinema which I would like to watch. I like romcoms and a slice-of-life kind of genre. Given a chance, I would like to make this kind of film if I ever turn producer.”On being asked if she is soon turning producer, she replied, “It is too soon to talk about that but definitely, I am looking forward to making good cinema, good filmmaking which gives you a feel-good factor.”
Further elaborating on her character Sonam, Chahatt said, “This girl is from Benaras, who wants different things in life and she is a little complicated that’s where there is the clash. It's very relatable like how I am in my personal life. So it was quite easy for me to get into the skin of the character.” She went on to add that shooting for Yaatris gave her actor’s satisfaction for the first time. “Farukh(DOP) sir would just leave the camera rolling and ask us to just be yourself. It was so effortless and I had so much pleasure working on set. You know, the first time I attained actors satisfaction. And working with good actors, the whole vibe of the set was very different. I felt happy and satisfied being an actor, you know, it was that level of different feelings.”
