Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's much-awaited movie, Devara Part 1, now has a release date. Industry sources have confirmed that the film will arrive in cinemas worldwide on September 27. An official confirmation is still awaited.
The filmmakers seem to have zeroed in on the date amid reports of a delay in Pawan Kalyan's next film, OG. The gangster drama, written and directed by Sujeeth, was earlier scheduled for release on September 27.
However, according to sources, the film will not be ready by that date. Pawan had put all his shooting commitments on hold as he led an intense election campaign in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, Pawan registered an impressive performance in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. His party, Jana Sena, won all the seats it contested, and Pawan himself won a Lok Sabha seat.
After settling into his new role as an MP, Pawan is expected to resume shooting for movies he has already committed to. He has reportedly decided to complete the shoot for his long-delayed movie, Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The production of the period drama is expected to wrap up in the next few months, with the filmmakers aiming for a Christmas release this year.
Earlier, the producers of Lucky Baskhar announced that their movie would come out on September 27. Producer Naga Vamsi claimed he would not dare to release the movie if Pawan's OG were also released on the same day. This was believed to be an indirect confirmation of OG's delay.
Devara Part 1 will mark the return of Jr. NTR to the big screen after a gap of two years. He was last seen in director SS Rajamouli's period drama, RRR, which also featured Ram Charan in the lead role. The film made history by winning Oscars last year.
