Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is occupied with the filming of his upcoming gangster action-drama Coolie, which stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. During a recent media interaction, the director revealed major updates about the film's shooting and addressed ongoing rumors surrounding Rajinikanth’s portions, which fans assumed were left pending due to the actor’s recent health emergency. For context, the Tamil superstar was admitted to the hospital for a non-surgical procedure. He is reported to be in stable condition after being admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.

The director revealed that Rajinikanth had informed the team in advance about the medical procedure, and the filmmaker wrapped up his portions soon afterward. He also mentioned that Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan’s portions were wrapped up today in Vizag, with the team now taking a 10-day break from shooting. He said, “About 40 days ago, Rajini sir had informed us that such a surgery was going to take place. Accordingly, we finished filming his portions that needed to be shot in Visakhapatnam in advance. But outside, people said all kinds of things, like the film would get shelved and all. None of it is true.”
He also requested fans not to spread false information online.
Shruti Haasan’s shooting update for Coolie
Recently, Coolie's female lead, Shruti Haasan, shared an Instagram story confirming the completion of the Vizag schedule for Lokesh Kanagaraj's film. She also captioned the picture with the hashtag ‘#wrappedup,’ further confirming Lokesh’s statement about her and Nagarjuna wrapping up their portions today. Coolie marks the actress’ first on-screen collaboration with Rajinikanth.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, features several other well-known stars in key roles. So far, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir have been confirmed as part of the cast. The film is billed as a gangster action drama, with Rajinikanth’s character said to have grey shades.
