Bulge Banter with Tenoch Huerta
Our 41-year-old Marvel star, known for his role as Namor in the movie, candidly discussed the curious case of his altered bulge. When pressed by Rolling Stone about whether he was comfortable with the CGI modification, Huerta replied, “The only thing that I can say is the original was the photo [on] the right.” Adding that he wouldn't “lie to people,” he emphasized that the original image, sans bulge, was the true depiction.
Addressing the 'fragile masculinity' angle, Huerta stated, "Every man in the world, we have fragile masculinity, but not in that issue. I will say, the right one, the real one is the photo on the right.”
Social Media Storm Over 'Bulgegate'
Fans couldn't help but notice the discrepancy when a vigilant Twitter user posted side-by-side images from the trailer and the actual film, pointing out the difference. The post, exclaiming, "GIVE NAMOR HIS PENIS BACK," sparked a flurry of responses and triggered a host of reactions.
One commenter humorously pondered the life of the special-effects artist responsible for the task, “Imagine working overtime at 3 am and you haven’t seen your family in weeks because you have to airbrush out Namor the Submariner’s bulge frame by frame.”
Others argued for the normalization of visible bulges in male superhero costumes, comparing it to the portrayal of women's figures in similar attire. Amid the collective call for authenticity, one moviegoer tweeted, "During the movie I kept thinking WHERE IS HIS PACKAGE, cause I knew a man who looks like that had to have a decent one. I wanted that distraction bad."
