Bollywood's Disco King Bappi Lahiri no more, passes away in Mumbai at 69
Disco King of Bollywood, Bappi Lahiri, passed away in Mumbai last night at ther age of 69. He had popularised Disco songs in the 80s and 90s and had given us the hits like Disco Dancer, Sharaabi, Pyaar Bina Chain Kaha and the more recent Oo La La from The Dirty Picture.

Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri , who popularised disco music in India in the 80s and 90s, has died following multiple health issues, a doctor treating him said on Wednesday. He was 69. Lahiri died on Tuesday night at the CritiCare Hospital in Juhu.
"Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight," Dr Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, told PTI.
Bappi Lahiri had become an icon not just for the songs that he would compose and sing, but also for his the trademark gold chains that he wore for luck and his sunglasses. He gave the nation some of the most iconic dance numbers of the 70s and 80s including Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, Namak Halaal among others. He was also behind some of the most popular songs of recent times including Oo La La from The Dirty Picture, and also lend his voice for Gunday 's Aslam- E- Ishqum. His last Bollywood song was Bhankas for the 2020 film " Baaghi 3". He has also extensively worked in the Bengali film industry.
Bappi Lahiri, whose real name happened to be Alokesh, also had a brief stint as a politician when he joined the Bhartiya Janta Party in 2014.
Bappi Lahiri is now survived by his son Bappa and daughter Reena . We hope that his family gets the strength to deal with this loss. May he rest in peace.
