Before Liger, Karan Johar had offered Vijay Deverakonda another Bollywood film; latter reveals why he rejected it

South superstar and national heartthrob Vijay Deverakonda is currently busy on a promotional spree for his upcoming film Liger . Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, the much awaited sports action drama not only marks his Bollywood debut, but is also Ananya Panday’s very first Telugu film. Not just fans but even celebrities such as Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are super excited to see Vijay in his first ever Hindi project. But did you know Liger was not the first Bollywood project that co-producer Karan Johar offered to Vijay?

That’s right! Recently during a press meet in Hyderabad, the handsome actor revealed that KJo had approached him with a different project after watching his blockbuster hit Arjun Reddy, but he rejected it. In the film, Vijay had portrayed the role of a short-tempered, alcoholic surgeon who sets out on a path to self-destruction after his girlfriend marries someone else. He shared, “After watching Arjun Reddy, Karan Johar offered me to do a Bollywood film, then I was not ready, and now, we approached with Liger as it has the pan-India appeal. He supported us well in every aspect.”

Talking about Liger, Vijay shared that his character has a stammering problem in the film. He explained that he will be seen as a fighter who is strong and intimidating, but is not even able to say I love you to the girl he loves, played by Ananya. Vijay feels this aspect makes the role as well as the film even more interesting. Well, his chemistry with Ananya in the songs which have released so far has received loads of appreciation. Rumors also suggest that the two lead stars have apparently fallen in love in real life while promoting their film.

Well, we can’t wait to see Vijay and Ananya shine together in Liger when the film arrives on the silver screen on 25th August.
