Even though Anurag Kashyap ’s directorial Dobaaraa has been hailed for being an edge-of-seat-thriller, it has failed to pull the audience to theatres. Amid this, there is a report circulating stating the movie will fail to recover its budget because of its dismal performance at the box office. Well, the report caught the attention of the filmmaker and he claimed it to be untrue.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Kashyap shared a screenshot of the media report that read, “It turns out that Dobaaraa, which has been made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, will fail to make more than 2 crores”. He slammed it by saying that his movie’s cost budget is already recovered. “Inko kehte hai vested ch**ya DoBaaraa ka cost jitna kam hai woh pehle se hi recovered hai ullu ke patthon. Jitna chahiye jhooth bol lo apne aap se aur doosaron se. Tum kal ko raho na raho, main kahin nahin jaa raha poop India”(Dobaaraa’s cost is less and have already been recovered. The story revolves around a woman who gets an opportunity to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a murder that happened two decades ago. Going by the box office reports, the film, which was released on August 19, collected Rs 72 lakh on the first day. The following day, it managed to earn Rs 70 lakh, and on Day 3, it collected Rs 1.10 crore. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 2.84 crore.
