"𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠…," he added, hinting at his character Ashwatthama, inspired by a major character from the Mahabharata.
In mythology, Ashwatthama is a very complex character. A warrior on the Kaurava side, he is cursed by Lord Krishna for a terrible act. Ashwatthama is cursed with immortality, and condemned to roam the earth until the end of Kali Yuga. During this time, he will suffer from festering wounds that ooze pus and blood. His guilt will constantly burden him and will await death, but death will forever elude him.
Kalki 2898 AD is inspired by mythological stories. Writer-director Nag Ashwin has combined elements of sci-fi with the compelling narrative of myths and legends. The film has been in the making for a long time, and Nag Ashwin seems to have really pushed the limitations of technology in Indian cinema to fully realize his fantasy drama.
Reportedly made on a whopping budget of Rs 600 crore, Kalki 2898 AD stands as one of the most expensive movies ever made in India. The filmmakers also have plans to promote it globally. Last year, they unveiled the film's first teaser at the San Diego Comic-Con as part of their international promotional strategy.
Kalki 2898 AD is due in cinemas on June 27.
