Alia Bhatt on feeling baby Raha’s first kick during her pregnancy: ‘I did not sleep all night because...’

Alia Bhatt is one of the leading actresses in Bollywood who made her debut as the heroine with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. The actress, who was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, gave birth to a baby girl named Raha Kapoor in 2022. Speaking about her motherhood journey, Alia talked about balancing time between her professional and personal life and the time she felt Raha’s first kick during her pregnancy.

Speaking to Allure in an interview, Alia opened up about her daughter Raha Kapoor who has recently become the internet favourite for her candid paparazzi videos. Alia said that Raha is naughty, chatty and has moments of being shy, but she is her own person.  

Reminiscing about her pregnancy, the actress said that she experienced the baby's kick for the first time, when she was working on her film Heart of Stone in Portugal. Alia said she did not sleep that night because it was the first time that she felt not being alone.

Talking about her motherhood journey, Alia revealed how she has not been able to get any time for herself while juggling her professional and personal life. “How do I ping-pong between the two and do them well, but also find a way to carve out time for myself, which I'm not able to do. I'll be very candid right now—there’s no such thing as me time. I've not even been able to get a therapy session for the last two months,” the actress said.  

Explaining how motherhood is a combination of extreme joy and extreme worry, Alia said that the soul is fulfilled but one is always full of fear and nerves because of just wanting to do it right and wanting to do it well. She added, “Their life is theirs, and you just need to give them the tools to deal with their life.”  

Alia will be seen next in a thriller drama film titled Jigra, alongside actor Vedang Raina. Speaking about the film, Alia said that when she signed the film after she had just given birth to Raha and was in a protective mode. She said, “Jigra is a classic sort of story [about] what extent you would go to for your loved one. At the time that I signed, I’d just given birth to Raha. So I think I was in my tigress mode, where I was like, I need to protect my cub.” The film is directed by Vasan Bala and will hit the theatres on October 11.
