Not only Superstar Akshay Kumar can stun his fans with his high-octane action sequences, but he is also brilliant at tickling their funny bones. With his comedy films like Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana, he proved that his comic timing is on-point. Well, the superstar was earlier speculated to be reviving these Firoz Nadiadwala’s comedy franchises, but recently it is reported he has pulled himself out of the projects.
According to Pinkvilla, Akshay has been carefully choosing his scripts after back-to-back flops. As per their sources, producer Firoz Nadiadwala has made multiple attempts to convince Akshay to come on board for the sequels of Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana. But the actor has decided to step back due to unimpressive scripts. “Akshay Kumar is well aware of his fans’ expectations of him in these comedy franchises. He refused to compromise on the quality of these scripts, as attempts to remake these sequels without proper thought and with other actors have already failed in the past,” said the source.
Further, it was also reported that Akshay has a busy calendar and may look forward to a fresh script rather than ride on the popularity of old franchises. Earlier, attempts were made to revive Hera Pheri with a cast starring John Abraham, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, and Abhishek Bachchan, but it was stalled mid-way for multiple reasons. Even Welcome Back with John Abraham failed to pull audiences to the cinemas in 2015.
With Akshay stepping out, Firoz’s situation has somehow become difficult. However, if reports are to be believed, the producer has decided to approach young actors on the block to feature in the sequels of his comedy franchise. “Nadiadwala is said to be approaching other actors now to helm the films. “He’s now making it with a young actor and talks are on with multiple directors, in an attempt to somehow take the franchise forward,” added the source.
