Vikrant Massey has been receiving a lot of appreciation for his performance in the latest release 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The actor has caught the eye of major filmmakers and that includes, 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani. The latest report suggests that the filmmaker has signed the actor as one of the leading hero opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
A source close to Bollywood Hungama stated, “Raju Hirani, who is busy putting finishing touches to his Dunki, took time off to see 12th Fail as it is his mentor Vinod Chopra’s film. Hirani was bowled over. He has pencilled in Vikrant for his next directorial which he will start after Dunki is released.” However, there is no official statement issued from the filmmaker as well as the actor on the said report.

Hirani is currently making headlines for his upcoming project, Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. The film explores a narrative centred around an illegal immigration method known as Donkey Flight, in a collaborative effort between Red Chillies Entertainment and Jio Studios. As oer reports from Zoom, Hirani is also planning to expand his horizons into the world of OTT platforms.
Meanwhile, 12th Fail has become Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s highest-grosser in his 40-year-long career. The movie has so far earned Rs. 24.16 crores in India and is refusing to slow down. The film is based on Anurag Pathak's eponymous novel about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who became an Indian Public Service officer out of extreme poverty. The plot revolves around Sharma, who fearlessly embraced the idea of restarting his academic journey and reclaiming his destiny.
Vikrant has earlier starred in Gaslight alongside Sara Ali Khan and Chitrangda Singh. He will next be seen in Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba, the second part of Haseen Dilruba, co-starring Taapsee Pannu, Jimmy Shergill and Sunny Kaushal.
