The rock world faced a tremor this week, one not induced by electric guitars or thumping drums, but by the news of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler 's health woes. As fans eagerly awaited the band's electrifying farewell tour, they were met with an announcement of the unexpected postponement of six concerts due to Tyler's vocal cord damage.
In a heartfelt statement, 75-year-old Tyler conveyed his distress, “I’m heartbroken... I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”

Devotees of the "Dream On" hitmakers now need to mark their calendars for January and February 2024. The rescheduled concerts include cities like Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland. To ensure no fan misses out, previously purchased tickets will be honored, and refunds are available for those who can't adjust to the new dates.
Having kicked off their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour on September 2nd in Philadelphia, the band has already given a taste of their iconic music legacy. With classics like “Janie’s Got a Gun,” and “Sweet Emotion” to a nod towards Fleetwood Mac with “Stop Messin’ Around,” they've proven that their spirit is undiminished.
It's been an emotional roller-coaster for the band. The loss of Joey Kramer’s wife in June 2022, followed by his “temporary leave of absence,” has been hard-hitting. Additionally, Tyler’s relapse after foot surgery in 2022 saw him entering a treatment program, a testament to his continuous battle for sobriety.
The band's dedication to their craft and fans remains unwavering. As Tyler poignantly stated last December, "There is nowhere we'd rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world." The wait may be long, but with Aerosmith, it promises to be worth every second.
