'Why is she here?’ Fans react to BLACKPINK's Lisa joining A-list stars like Zendaya, Dev Patel and more on magazine cover

While the teaser is out and BLACKPINK fans, known as BLINKs, are excited to see rapper Lisa debut in the third season of HBO's "The White Lotus", no one can say for certain what her acting chops are like.

So, it came as a surprise to many when Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood Issue featured a variety of A-list actors, including Zendaya, Dev Patel, Glen Powell, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and more—and added Lisa to the list as well.

Known for her music career, Lisa's acting transition has sparked excitement and curiosity among fans. While many praised the magazine for its star-studded lineup, others questioned why Lisa was included, given that she has yet to showcase her acting skills. 

This question flooded X (formerly Twitter), with BLINKs and her solo fans, known as Lillies, coming to her defence, suggesting that HBO might be promoting her role in the upcoming drama through her inclusion. 

However, some critics speculated that her presence in the issue might be due to her alleged boyfriend, Frédéric Arnault—former CEO of TAG Heuer—and his industry connections. This back-and-forth has certainly sparked an uproar on social media.

BLACKPINK's Lisa will make her acting debut in "The White Lotus", playing a resort manager named Mook in the upcoming Thailand-based season. A brief clip released by MAX and HBO shows Lisa's character greeting the new cast as they arrive in Thailand, saying, "Welcome to Thailand, ka." A name tag confirms her role as Mook, a resort employee.

In the first two seasons, the resort manager characters have always been central to the most stressful and dramatic storylines. Fans will expect more of the same when "The White Lotus" Season 3 is released in 2025.
