Who are Huang Zitao and Xu Yi Yang? Inside the relationship of the former EXO member and ex-SM trainee

    On July 14, 2024, Huang Zitao and Xu Yi Yang tagged each other on social media to finally announce their relationship.

    Following his departure from EXO, the Korean-Chinese K-pop band, Huang Zitao also known as Tao started his own business and a solo career in China. While there were speculations of him being in a relationship for over 4 years, he recently went public with his romance with labelmate Xu Yi Yang, who was also a trainee under SM Entertainment. 

    On July 14, 2024, Huang Zitao and Xu Yi Yang tagged each other on social media to finally announce their relationship. Tao shared photos of them at the beach, including one of them hugging, another of them leaning in for a kiss, and a final one of them kissing, captioned, "Wish we'll forever be us." Xu Yi Yang also shared two couple photos of them holding hands with the caption, "Sunset by the sea, make a wish."

    Their announcement quickly trended across various social media platforms after going viral on Weibo with many wishing them a good future.

    Tao and Xu Yi Yang have been closely acquainted for years, with Xu Yi Yang joining Tao's agency, "L. TAO ENTERTAINMENT", in 2018 after he left EXO. Their heart-warming love story reportedly began around 2020, with rumors of their romance emerging as Tao supported Xu Yi Yang on "Produce Camp". They were seen on dates, including a trip to Yunnan, China.

    In April 2024, speculation about their engagement surfaced, which they denied at the time. Their recent relationship confirmation has now renewed curiosity about their future together.

    Huang Zitao, better known as Tao, debuted with EXO in 2012 but he went on to sue SM Entertainment in 2015. The case lasted three years and in 2018, he officially left the boy band. He went on to establish his own agency in China and under his new stage name, "Z.TAO", he again made his debut as a solo artist and actor.

    Xu Yi Yang trained with SM Entertainment from 2016 to 2018. She was also a member of "SMROOKIES", a pre-debut group created in 2013. However, after she left SM Entertainment, she joined Tao's agency and debuted with the Chinese group "Legal High" in 2019. After the group's disbandment in 2020, Xu Yi Yang launched her solo music career.
