A Life Well-Lived
In a distinct statement, Hay also shared with PEOPLE that the "beautiful house" where Suzanne Somers spent her last moments was a cherished dream of hers. He explained, "She had numerous plans, constantly working, and nurturing her dreams.
Hay disclosed that the family plans to hold a private burial this week, followed by a memorial service scheduled for November.
A Fond Farewell
In a deeply emotional Instagram post back in July, Suzanne Somers candidly revealed that her battle with breast cancer had resurfaced, marking the first recurrence since her initial diagnosis in 2000.
Alongside a heartfelt photo featuring herself and her husband, Alan Hamel, aged 87, she shared these poignant words, "As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down. I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear, and I’m a fighter."
In addition to leaving an indelible mark as Chrissy Snow on "Three's Company" (1977-1981) and Carol Foster Lambert on "Step by Step" (1991-1998), Suzanne Somers also graced the small screen as Sheriff Hildy Granger in "She's the Sheriff" (1987–1989).
Beyond her television career, the multi-talented actress was a prolific author, having written over 25 books, many of which achieved New York Times best-selling status. Additionally, she ventured into the realms of health and beauty businesses, most notably introducing the widely recognized ThighMaster exercise equipment.
Suzanne Somers is survived by her loving family which includes her husband, Alan Hamel, her son Bruce, aged 57, her stepchildren Stephen and Leslie, and her cherished six grandchildren.
