The Cast of Ted Lasso
Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso
Jason Sudeikis began his journey with Saturday Night Live in 2003 when he was hired as a writer. Two years down the line, in 2005, he officially joined the cast. Surprisingly, Sudeikis had already portrayed the character of Ted Lasso in NBC Sports promo videos seven years prior to the show's premiere in August 2020. The series is predominantly Sudeikis' creation, and he has garnered two additional Emmys for both the show itself and his portrayal of the sincere titular character.
Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton
Before her breakthrough role in Ted Lasso, Waddingham had notable but brief appearances in two other popular series. In addition to her portrayal of Septa Unella in Game of Thrones, she also appeared as Jackson's mother in Netflix's Sex Education. However, her role as Rebecca in Ted Lasso has been her most significant yet, and Waddingham openly acknowledges the transformative impact the show has had on her life. She was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance.
Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent
Brett Goldstein's passion for entertainment began early. He wrote and acted in plays as a child and explored theater while studying film at university. His short film SuperBob caught Ricky Gervais's attention, leading to a role in the show Derek. This paved the way for his writing gig on Ted Lasso. Goldstein felt a deep connection with the character of Roy Kent, even recording his audition tapes, eventually landing the role.
Juno Temple as Keeley Jones
Juno Temple takes the spotlight as Keeley Jones in Ted Lasso, a character loosely inspired by her former co-star Keeley Hazell. Keeley, a model turned publicity and marketing manager for the team, later established her PR agency. Temple has carved her niche in television with leading roles in series like Fargo, Vinyl, and Dirty John.
Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard
Brendan Hunt stars as Coach Beard and served as an executive producer on Ted Lasso after co-creating the character in the NBC Sports shorts where Sudeikis first played the role. In addition to theater work, Hunt starred in Key & Peele and appeared in Reno 911!, Community, Parks and Recreation.
Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley
Nick Mohammed gained international acclaim when he debuted as Nathan "Nate the Great" Shelley in Ted Lasso, but he's been a beloved comedy fixture in his native U.K. for more than a decade. His first mainstream feature film debut came in 2015's The Martian as Tim Grimes, followed by Bridget Jones' Baby a year later.
