Justice for JESSI: BTS ARMY rallies behind K-pop idol, Jebbies; say 'we know how it feels'

People seeing it was no fault of Jessi, haters and antis have continued to make one more idol's life a living hell, just like in the past few months they have done with others.

What is wrong with the country South Korea and why are they giving a chance to people to treat K-pop idols like commodities? After the issues with Seunghan of Riize and SUGA of BTS, it was K-pop soloist Jessi, who faced the wrath of antis, despite no fault of hers. So what exactly happened with Jessi?

In the early hours of September 29, a fan approached Jessi for a photo, but she declined. Shortly after, a member of her entourage allegedly assaulted the fan. The group quickly left and entered a nearby bar. When the police arrived, Jessi claimed she didn’t recognize the assailant. Last week, she was summoned back to the police station, where she reiterated her statement of not knowing the individual who attacked the fan, even after being shown the CCTV footage.

Despite the CCTV footage, which is making the rounds and people seeing it was no fault of hers, haters, antis, and some South Koreans have continued to make one more idol's life a living hell, just like in the past few months they have done with others. While Jessi's fans, Jebbies, are sharing that she was not at fault for the fight between two grown men, it seems like no one is listening.

Jessi's management, DOD Agency, released a statement about the trouble. "We would like to apologize again for any concern caused by recent events. After careful consideration and discussions with Jessi regarding her future activities, we have mutually agreed to terminate her contract as of October 18 at Jessi's request. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jessi for her time with us and wish her all the best in her future endeavours."

Seeing how agencies often fail to support their idols, BTS fans, known as ARMY, have come to the defence of K-pop idol Jessi. ARMY has experienced firsthand how even a small inconvenience can allow haters to make death threats and send funeral wreaths to someone who is still alive, with the incident involving rapper SUGA serving as a prime example.

BTS fans also highlighted how Jessi has always been supportive of BTS, never speaking ill of them and consistently praising the seven members. On X (formerly known as Twitter), BTS fans began trending "Justice for JESSI," while Jebbies expressed their gratitude for the support from one of the biggest fandoms, vowing to stand by YOONGI as well.

    More about Jessi:

Jessi’s time with DOD Agency lasted just one month, and when the pressure intensified, things quickly unravelled. Fans remain hopeful that she will find better management that suits her lifestyle and connect with more supportive people in the future.
