Is yet-to-debut BADVILLAIN already plagiarizing BABYMONSTER? Fans have this to say
Fans also noticed other resemblances, such as the layout of the teasers, colour schemes, and similarities between the logos.
BABYMONSTER and BADVILLAIN
A group that is making waves, even before their debut, but only for the wrong reason is the upcoming girl group BADVILLAIN. The yet-to-debut group has faced accusations from fans of plagiarizing BABYMONSTER's teaser photos and even similarities in the melody of the music used in the teasers.
BADVILLAIN is scheduled to debut next month and has been generating excitement by releasing teasers and photos. However, one of their initial video teasers which was released in April, featured silhouettes of the members along with various elements associated with the group.
Upon the release, netizens were quick to point out similarities to BABYMONSTER's poster, which was unveiled in January 2023. Fans also noticed other resemblances, such as the layout of the teasers, colour schemes, and similarities between the logos. Additionally, some even stated similarities in the BPM and melody of the music used in the teasers.
While some fans acknowledged that the black and red colour scheme is often associated with groups under Big Planet Made, citing examples like VIVIZ, accusations of plagiarism resurfaced again when BADVILLAIN shared concept photos of their seven members.
Although the concept photos received praise for their aesthetic and vibe, many could not ignore the similarities with BABYMONSTER's concept photos, particularly when BABYMONSTER was preparing to re-debut with "SHEESH" after Ahyeon's return.
Amid the ongoing feud between HYBE and ADOR and the prevalence of plagiarism claims within the industry, it's not surprising that these allegations have sparked controversy online. It will now be a huge task for every group to come up with something original and make sure they don't have a copy, at least within the K-pop realm.
