Bridgerton season 3 sneak peek: Penelope confronts Colin over his heartless rejection of her

In an early glimpse of Bridgerton's eagerly awaited third season, Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan) asserts herself with Colin Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Newton), addressing how his actions made her feel anything but cherished in society's eyes.

Penelope promptly rebuffs a compliment from Colin, sparking a confrontation between the former friends. As tensions rise, Penelope confronts Colin about his reluctance to court her.The souring of their relationship follows the events of season 2, where Penelope overhears Colin confiding to his mother that he has no desire to court her.

Season 3 Divergence

The acclaimed series, led by executive producers Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen and adapted from the popular Bridgerton book series, will diverge from the chronological sequence of its source material in season 3. Instead, the focus will shift to Penelope and Colin's romance, which isn't explored in the books until the fourth novel, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton."

Netflix has unveiled the titles for all eight episodes of season 3. The season kicks off with "Out of the Shadows," followed by "How Bright the Moon," "Forces of Nature," "Old Friends," "Tick Tock," "Romancing Mister Bridgerton," "Joining of Hands," and concludes with "Into the Light."

Nicola Coughlan's Insights

Even though season 3 deviates from the book sequence, Coughlan assured fans in a June 2023 interview with People that they'll adore the upcoming season, emphasizing its fidelity to the source material. She further elaborated on her perspective, likening the series' progression: season 1 centered on passion, season 2 on longing, and season 3, according to her, is all about romance.

At the outset of season 3, Penelope finds herself socially isolated after Eloise (portrayed by Claudia Jessie), her best friend and Colin's younger sister, discovers her secret identity as Lady Whistledown. With her friends' company and support withdrawn, Penelope resolves to seize control of her destiny.

Part one of Bridgerton season 3 will be released on May 16, followed by part two on June 13. You can currently stream seasons 1 and 2 of Bridgerton, along with its spinoff Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, on Netflix.
