Fashion's biggest night, the 2024 Met Gala, kicked off at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 7. This year, guests ascended the museum's famed steps wearing outfits according to the event's "The Garden of Time" dress code. While many adhered to the theme, with artists like Alia Bhatt grabbing headlines worldwide for her elegant saree, K-pop idol Jennie, on the other hand, became a target of trolls among netizens online.

Jennie, the rapper from BLACKPINK, graced the event for the second time following her red carpet-debut in 2022. She opted for a custom-made blue mini-dress from Alaïa, adorned with an asymmetrical cut-out across the midriff, for the fashion gala.
However, many took to social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter), to express their thoughts on the look, with many stating she 'did not serve' and questioning its adherence to the theme. However, BLINKs (fans of BLACKPINK) were making sure to protect their idol from all the comments made online.
For those who do not know, the Met Gala takes place annually in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It commences with the unveiling of the Costume Institute exhibition, followed by a gala dinner and a fashion showcase. Joining Anna Wintour as co-chairs this year were Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth, following in the footsteps of the 2023 hosts: Dua Lipa, Penelope Cruz, Roger Federer, and Michaela Coel.
What is Jennie up to?
After departing from their former management agency YG Entertainment for their solo work in December 2023, the four members of BLACKPINK embarked on individual journeys. Jennie, in particular, swiftly ventured into the music industry.
On December 24, 2023, she grabbed attention by launching her independent artist management company, ODDATELLIER (OA) and was part of two songs soon after.
Jennie collaborated with American rapper Matt Champion of Brockhampton on the song "Slow Motion" and later with South Korean rapper Zico for his new single, "Spot!". She also revealed plans for her debut solo album scheduled for release in 2024.
