Day6 returns with 'Band Aid': Meet the rock band members behind the 9th mini album

    All fired up with their latest mini-album is the rock band Day6! The South Korean group, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015, has garnered a dedicated fanbase with their distinctive blend of rock and pop, showcasing their talent through a series of successful albums and energetic live performances.

    Comprising members Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon (On December 31, 2021, Jae ended his contract with JYP Entertainment and officially left the group on January 1, 2022), Day6 recently released their 9th mini-album "Band Aid" on September 2, 2024, which consists of 8 tracks.     Sungjin

    Birth Name: Park Sung Jin

    Position: Leader, Main Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist

    Birthday: January 16th, 1993

    Born in Busan and later living in Seoul, Sungjin was part of "5LIVE," the original lineup of Day6, which debuted in 2014 before changing its name due to comparisons with Maroon 5. He joined JYP Entertainment in 2010 after auditioning with Peabo Bryson's "Why Goodbye." In 2009, he briefly appeared in the Korean movie "Wish" while its filming took place at his high school. He also won the Jin Chin Chin Song Festival in the same year. He appeared as a masked idol on episode 305 of Weekly Idol.

    Young K

    Birth Name: Kang Young Hyun

    Position: Main Rapper, Main Vocalist, Bassist

    Birthday: December 19th, 1993

    Born in Ilsan, South Korea, he moved to Toronto for high school and lived there for about four years. He began his career in 2010 as Brian Kang, a member of a musical trio. He and bandmate Don Lee were scouted by JYPE and joined the original Day6 lineup, "5LIVE". He also appeared as a backup dancer in "Dream High 1 and 2" and is a member of "ONE TOP," a project group from "Hangout with Yoo".

    Wonpil

    Birth Name: Kim Won Pil

    Position: Main Vocalist, Keyboardist, Synthesizer, Visual

    Birthday: April 28th, 1994

    Born in Incheon, South Korea, he was a founding member of "5LIVE," the original name of Day6. During their trainee days, he and Young K nearly debuted in a dance group. He is the shortest member of Day6, standing at 176 cm (5'9"). He made his solo debut with the album "Pilmography" on February 7, 2022.

    Dowoon

    Birth Name: Yoon Do Woon

    Position: Drummer, Vocalist, Maknae

    Birthday: August 25th, 1995

    Born in Busan, South Korea, he auditioned for a band position at JYP Entertainment in April 2015. He trained for just four months at JYPE, a significantly shorter period compared to his bandmates. He made his solo debut on September 27, 2021, with the single "Out of the Blue."
