Superman: Legacy gets a new title by James Gunn on the first day of shoot

James Gunn made headlines on February 29th as he announced the commencement of filming for his latest project, the much-anticipated Superman movie. This film marks the beginning of a revitalized DC Universe overseen by Gunn and his counterpart at DC Studios, Peter Safran. Additionally, Gunn disclosed a significant alteration: the movie, previously titled Superman: Legacy, has undergone a title simplification and is now known simply as Superman.

In a social media announcement, the director revealed that production for the movie commenced on February 29th. Alongside this milestone, he unveiled a pivotal change: the film's title has been streamlined to Superman With excitement, he also confirmed that audiences can anticipate its release on the big screen in 2025.

Star-Studded Casting

David Corenswet, recognized for his notable roles in Ryan Murphy productions like Hollywood, takes on the titular superhero role. Joining him is Rachel Brosnahan, Emmy winner for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, portraying the iconic character Lois Lane.

Nicholas Hoult steps into the shoes of Superman's notorious adversary, Lex Luthor, in Gunn's upcoming film. The star-studded cast also features Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillon as Guy Gardner, Isabela Mercad as Hawkgirl, and a host of other talented actors.

This film serves as the cornerstone of the DC universe's cinematic reboot. Centered on a younger Kal-El, it delves into his journey as he navigates the complexities of his Kryptonian lineage while embracing his human identity as Clark Kent, hailing from Smallville, Kansas.
