SAG Awards 2024: Modern Family gang reunites and unleashes hilarity

The Dunphy-Pritchetts reunited, if only for a night. Modern Family stars Julie Bowen, Ed O’Neill, Sofía Vergara, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson took the stage together at the 2024 SAG Awards. Their mission? To present the Ensemble in a Comedy Award to the cast of The Bear.
Modern Family veterans fondly recalled their ABC series clinching this category four times before. "This really brings back memories," remarked Burrell. When Vergara mentioned the popularity of her Netflix series Griselda, Stonestreet chimed in jest.

A Heartfelt Acceptance
Abby Elliott, known for her role as Natalie on The Bear, graciously accepted the award on behalf of the acclaimed FX series. After lauding the show's team, she extended gratitude to all who supported actors throughout their journey - from parents to drama teachers and friends. It's been a remarkable night for The Bear, with Jeremy Allen White winning for Best Male Actor in a Comedy Series and Ayo Edebiri taking home the award for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Top Contenders
Before the telecast, Oppenheimer and Barbie led the film nominees with four each, both vying for the ceremony's top category of Best Cast. They faced stiff competition from American Fiction, The Color Purple, and Killers of the Flower Moon.

In the television categories, Succession led with five nominations, notably contending for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series. Also in the running are The Crown, The Gilded Age, The Last of Us, and The Morning Show.The 2024 SAG Awards will be broadcasted live on Netflix on Feb. 24 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
