Pascal's Enthusiasm Shines
Pascal, recently revealed as part of the star-studded ensemble cast for The Fantastic Four alongside Vanessa Kirby, The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Stranger Things' Joseph Quinn, continued to express his enthusiasm about his time on The Last of Us set as he reflected on the upcoming installment.
He expressed that returning to Season 2 and slipping back into those shoes feels refreshingly novel. He admitted that he had never tackled anything quite like this before, with its original authorship, and appreciated the opportunity to contribute creatively to the project.
Pascal's Humble Victory Speech at SAG Awards
Pascal confessed on stage at the SAG Awards, after securing his category win, that he was "a little drunk." He hinted at his astonishment for triumphing over fellow nominees, such as Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen from Succession, as well as Billy Crudup from The Morning Show.
The Last of Us, adapted from the popular video game, has received widespread critical acclaim, evident throughout this awards season. Pascal's performance earned nominations at prestigious events like the Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and People's Choice Awards. Additionally, the show amassed an impressive total of 24 Primetime Emmy nominations.
The upcoming second season is anticipated to follow the storyline of the video game's 2020 sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which continues the narrative a few years after the events of the original story. While the show hasn't been renewed for a third installment yet, showrunner Craig Mazin has hinted that the series' team might require more than one additional season to adequately depict the events of Part II.
