Emma Stone suffers a wardrobe malfunction
Emma Stone won the Best Actress award for her performance in Poor Things at the Oscars 2024. However, before starting her acceptance speech, the actress confessed to having a wardrobe malfunction. But she also blamed her La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling for it.
The actress turned around to reveal that she had ripped off her custom Louis Vuitton white peplum gown. Emma was heard saying, “Oh boy. My dress is broken.” She went on to add that it happened when Ryan was performing his song from Barbie, ‘I’m Just Ken.’ The Easy A actress said, “I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken.’ I’m pretty sure” leaving the crowd in splits. Emma also said that she had lost her voice too which was because she screamed the lyric ‘And so am I’ when Ryan passed her the mike.
This is Stone’s second win after La La Land. The actress went on to appreciate all her fellow nominees especially Lily Gladstone saying, “I'm in awe of you." The Favourite actress concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to the team behind Poor Things, including Yorgos Lanthimos: “Thank you for this gift of a lifetime in the role of Bella.” Stone then extended gratitude to her parents, brother, husband, and her daughter. Her close friend Jennifer Lawrence who was also one of the award presenters for her could not stop getting emotional during the same.
However, we need not worry about Stone’s dress as she afterward revealed that the outfit was repaired. Emma said, “They sewed me back in. Right when I came back[stage], they sewed me back in, which was wonderful.” Highlighting the reason she gave for ripping off her ensemble, she said, “I was so amazed by Ryan and what he was doing, and that number just blew my mind. I was right there, and I just was going for it, and things happen.” Emma played a child-like girl named Bella Baxter who was a result of an experiment and undergoes a journey of self-discovery.
