Mean Girls (Entertainment Weekly)
The retail giant Walmart is eager to capture the spotlight ahead of the traditional holiday-shopping extravaganza, Black Friday. To create a buzz about their fresh deals and unbeatable prices, Walmart is set to launch a set of commercials. These commercials will feature the cast of the 2004 hit movie "Mean Girls" stepping back into their iconic roles, but this time, as grown-ups.
Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried, along with other cast members from the film, are reprising their roles. This time, they are all depicted as adults, with some now dealing with their very own generation of mean girls.
Mean Girls Comeback Every Wednesday
The ads kick off on Wednesdays (the iconic pink day for the Plastics from "Mean Girls"), and fresh versions will pop up every subsequent Wednesday throughout the month. Each week, a different cast member will grace the ad and social media posts.
Walmart's goal is to engage its customers in early holiday shopping by presenting fantastic deals and prices in advance of the official Black Friday, which falls on November 24, and Cyber Monday on November 27.
Cast Reunion: A Joyful Gathering
"We believe fans will be absolutely thrilled to see us back together after all these years. I can say we're all pretty excited for everyone to catch up on what we've been up to," shares Daniel Franzese, who is reprising his role as Damian Leigh for this campaign.
The idea of a cast reunion had other actors brimming with excitement. Lindsay Lohan comments, "Reuniting with the team after all this time was such a lovely experience. It felt wonderful to reconnect with everyone." Amanda Seyfried adds, "Spending the day with Amanda and Lindsay was fantastic. It was a blast reminiscing and reliving the good times after all these years," and Lacey Chabert echoes, "Being together again after all these years was simply wonderful."
