Madonna's new Beau: Getting to know Josh Popper

Madonna and Josh Popper's relationship is thriving.Popper, a boxing coach with a brief appearance on the reality show Summer House, crossed paths with the pop icon when he trained her son, David Banda, at his boxing gym in New York City.

Madonna made her debut on Popper's Instagram in February 2023. Later, in December 2023, Popper took the stage with the "Vogue" singer during her Celebration Tour in Brooklyn. The couple sealed the moment with a kiss, capturing the hearts of over 14,000 people in attendance.

Josh Popper's Roots

Popper entered the world on September 23, 1993, in New Jersey, born to the late Michael Popper and Vanita Allen. Growing up in the South Jersey town of Egg Harbor Township, he completed his high school education at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey, graduating in 2011.

Popper is the proud owner of Breadwinners, a boxing gym in N.Y.C. Described on the gym's website as a "lifelong athlete and a full-time coach," Popper believes in workouts that go beyond mere completion. Instead, he emphasizes those that aid in showing up, zoning in, and leveling up. Hailing from New Jersey, Popper achieved the prestigious title of the 2023 NYC Ring Masters Heavyweight Champion at Madison Square Garden in April.

After securing a victory in a boxing match at Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn, Popper shared the first photos of himself and Madonna on February 12, 2023."Another W for the books‼️" he enthusiastically captioned the Instagram photos. "I wanna thank my coaches, my team, and my Bredwinners family for pushing me to be my best in and out of the ring. I got some good people by my side 🙌🏽."

Reality TV and NFL connection

While his stint in reality TV was brief, Popper made an appearance on Summer House. In Season 7, Summer House star Samantha Feher visited Popper's gym for a training session. Subsequently, she extended an invitation for him to join the Hamptons share house. However, after he joined the crew at a bar, Feher ultimately concluded that there was no romantic connection between them.

Popper opted to stay in-state for college, showcasing his skills as a defensive lineman at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. Following his college years, Popper briefly ventured into the NFL, participating in the Arizona Cardinals rookie minicamp in 2016. Unfortunately, he was cut before the season commenced. Subsequently, in 2017, Popper received an opportunity with the Indianapolis Colts but was released by the team.
