Lee Sun Kyun death: Here is all you need to know about the Parasite actor's controversial drug case

Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun’s tragic demise by suicide on December 27, 2023, left the entire entertainment industry along with his fans in a state of shock. The actor was said to be battling a controversial drug case which had also taken a toll on him mentally. Some fans even alleged after his passing that the trauma and allegations he faced after getting embroiled in the case might have something to do with his death. About Lee Sun Kyun's drug case

According to a news report in Wion, Lee’s alleged use of illegal drugs was confirmed on October 20, 2023. Investigations soon began against the My Mister actor and his agency Hodu Entertainment also stated that they were evaluating the charges against him. There was also a development in the case on October 25, 2023, citing K-pop singer G-Dragon’s involvement in the case but the latter rubbished these allegations. The police also confirmed that there are no connections between these two cases.

Lee Sun Kyun's statement

Both Lee and G-Dragon were not allowed to leave South Korea for their involvement in the case on October 27, 2023. The Coffee Prince actor also released an apology on October 28, 2023, referring to his involvement in the case. The statement read, “I would like to bow my head in apology to everyone who has trusted me and supported me all this time. As I delivered through my agency, my position is that I will faithfully participate in the investigation with an honest attitude. I feel very sorry for my family, who is suffering a lot at the moment. I will sincerely and truthfully answer (the questions) during the investigation.”

On November 3, 2023, Sun Kyun’s hair was found clean of drug residues. This proved that he did not take any drugs for the last 10 months. He also tested negative in some other tests regarding the same. The Pasta actor kept on denying his involvement in the case and also lost out on a big project because of the same. Fans are still heartbroken that he had to go through such a heavy trauma which probably might have been the reason for his drastic step.
