'I Simply Devour It': Jason Momoa reveals diet details for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Jason Momoa maintained equilibrium in his approach to getting ready for his newest film role. The 44-year-old actor mentioned that he didn't resort to extreme measures to achieve the physical fitness required for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to be released on Dec. 22. "I don't count calories. I simply indulge," he expressed.

Fueling the Aquaman Physique

His dietary approach was entirely adaptable, with few restrictions, he revealed. When questioned about his food choices leading up to and during filming, he responded, "Everything. Because you're burning so many calories, I just eat and consume. I'm constantly moving and work long days." "I simply devour it, and then put in the effort," he emphasized. "Work hard, eat hard, play hard, just do it."

Playing the role of the half-Atlantean/half-human superhero requires showcasing a muscular physique, but Momoa clarified that his diet and fitness routine primarily focus on maintaining overall health for physically demanding scenes.

"It's not really about vanity," he explained to the outlet. "It's more about injury prevention. You have to be ready. Wearing a 40-pound suit puts a lot of strain on your body. You need to be agile. Such actions can be tough on your knees. So, you do it to avoid injuries."

Aquaman's New Chapters

Momoa also shared insights into the forthcoming film, highlighting a fresh facet of Aquaman. In the upcoming movie, the character takes on roles as a husband (portrayed by Amber Heard as Mera) and a father. "These are aspects I haven't explored in my last four films," he remarked, stating, "I felt like people need to witness this side of him." Expressing his anticipation, he added, "That was my request, and I believe audiences will truly embrace it."

In a recently unveiled behind-the-scenes footage from the film, Momoa exclaimed, "It feels good to be back," while gripping the character's iconic golden trident on the set.

The sequel to the 2018 hit depicts Aquaman facing the return of Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who seeks revenge on Atlantis. Joining forces with his half-brother (Patrick Wilson), Aquaman endeavors to thwart Black Manta's plot to destroy the kingdom.

In the video, the 37-year-old Abdul-Mateen II commended Momoa for infusing a distinctive perspective into his rendition of the renowned comic book character. He remarked, "Jason has incorporated his own personality, style, taste, and cultural influences. He introduced the world to that facet of Aquaman." Wilson, 50, concurred, observing that the character "is so much of Jason." "He's capable of showcasing [all] facets of himself onscreen," Wilson added.
