The first teaser for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has been released, featuring the return of familiar faces like Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard from 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The original stars, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, also make a cameo in the teaser. Plus, you can look forward to seeing Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim in the cast.
A Chilling New Ghostbusting Adventure
In the upcoming movie, the Spengler family reunites to collaborate with the original Ghostbusters at the iconic New York City firehouse, where it all began. The original team has established a top-secret research lab to advance their ghost-busting endeavors.
However, when the unearthing of an ancient artifact triggers a malevolent force, both the new and old Ghostbusters must unite to safeguard their home and prevent a second Ice Age from enveloping the world. The film is directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote it alongside Jason Reitman.
A New Era in Ghostbusters History
This movie will be a milestone in Ghostbusters history as it's the first installment without the involvement of the original director, Ivan Reitman, in any capacity. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ivan served as a producer and co-screenwriter but unfortunately passed away in 2022 at the age of 75.
In April, Jason Reitman, Ivan's son, revealed that the film's setting would be in New York City during his appearance at CinemaCon 2023. Notably, Sony had previously announced the sequel to Afterlife in April 2022.
The next Ghostbusters movie brings a new twist to the series – it's the first one without the original director, Ivan Reitman. But, fear not, his son Jason Reitman is taking the reins, and they're taking us back to the bustling streets of New York City.
