Lily Gladstone, the Indigenous actress with a breakout role in "Killers of the Flower Moon," is generating the most significant Oscars buzz following the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Regarding the film's reception, Gladstone humbly stated, "I’m very much in a state of being in the moment right now. But I feel so grateful. I just feel so grateful."

    Lily Gladstone's Breakthrough Role

She made her debut in 2013 with the film "Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian." In 2016, she shared the screen with Kristen Stewart in "Certain Women," a performance that garnered her a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female.

Additionally, she has made notable appearances on television, including roles in "Room 104," "Billions," and "Reservation Dogs."

    Lilly's Latest Role

In her most recent role, Lilly takes the stage alongside Hollywood heavyweights Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in a movie that delves into a dark chapter of history.

The film centers around a series of gruesome killings that unfolded within the Osage Nation during the 1920s in Oklahoma. At that time, the Osage people had amassed considerable wealth from the oil reserves on their land, attracting the attention of both ambitious white magnates and ruthless gangsters, all vying to seize their riches.

In the beginning, the movie was all about showing the historical stuff and how the FBI came to be. But then, during the pandemic delay, Scorsese started talking a lot with Osage tribe members.

That changed things up. The film's focus shifted more towards the Native people and how they felt super betrayed. So, it's not just about the facts anymore; it's also about the emotions and their side of the story during those wild 1920s.
