Renowned for timeless classics such as "I'm Alive," "My Heart Will Go On," and "Because You Loved Me," Celine Dion shared her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome a year ago. Despite her health challenges, the iconic singer recently graced the screen in the film "Love Again," featuring Priyanka Chopra.

Celine Dion's battle with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, has intensified. In a recent interview with 7 Jours, her sister Claudette Dion revealed that the singer now faces a significant loss of muscle control.

    Navigating Dreams and Challenges

Discussing her health condition, Claudette expressed, "What saddens me is that she's always been disciplined. She has always put in hard work. Our mother instilled in her the belief that 'You're going to do it well, you're going to do it properly.'" Sharing Celine's aspiration to make a comeback on stage, she added, "It's true that both in her dreams and ours, the ultimate goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don't know."

In December of the previous year, Celine Dion had to cancel a string of performances due to health issues. Addressing her fans in a video message on Instagram, she revealed, "Recently, I have received a diagnosis of a highly uncommon neurological disorder known as 'stiff person syndrome,' which impacts approximately one in a million people."

    Emotional Struggles

The artist asserted that she receives daily support from her children and a dedicated team of doctors, emphasizing, "However, I must admit, I face challenges." Tearfully, she added, "Singing is all I know; it's been my lifelong passion. I miss the joy of being on stage, connecting with all of you, and delivering performances."

Stiff-person syndrome, also known as SPS or Moersch-Woltman syndrome, is a rare autoimmune movement disorder impacting the central nervous system. This condition induces chronic pain and spasms, often triggered by factors such as noise, emotional distress, and light physical touch.
