Anthony Mackie has reportedly confirmed that a significant element of the Captain America movies, the character Bucky Barnes, will not be featured in the upcoming installment, Brave New World. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Mackie assumes the role of the Star Spangled Man with a Plan.
Mackie Expresses Regret
In a recent interview, he expressed his disappointment not only over the absence of Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier but also Daniel Brühl's Baron Helmut Zemo. The trio's dynamic made for compelling television in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.

Mackie enjoyed their collaboration so much that he had hoped for a second season of the series rather than seeing his story transition to the big screen. This sentiment was shared in his interview with Radio Times in the UK.
Mackie's Thoughts on Series Standout Moments
One of the standout moments from that series undoubtedly revolved around Brühl's Zemo dancing in a nightclub, which quickly became one of the most memorable and widely shared moments in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its fame was such that even Mackie mentioned it. Mackie has been reflecting on how he'll miss having his friends around, and the absence of the duo on set alongside him has somewhat dimmed his experience.
Mackie will be accompanied by Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, who assumes the mantle of the new 'Falcon', alongside Shira Haas, who joins as the Israeli superhero Sabra. Carl Lumbly reprises his role as Isaiah Bradley from the series. Additionally, Liv Tyler returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 16 years as Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson appears as The Leader, and Harrison Ford portrays Thunderbolt Ross.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to premiere in theaters worldwide on February 14, 2025.
