SEVENTEEN's new MV 'Spell'
SEVENTEEN's most recent music video, "Spell," has been released, offering fans a magical experience as they eagerly anticipate the performance unit's latest enchantment. With Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino taking the spotlight, this song, part of their comeback album "17 IS RIGHT HERE," sweeps viewers into a realm of romance and fantasy.
The 4-member sub-unit, each representing a card from the tarot deck, has fully embraced the Amapiano genre, evident in the song's hypnotic synth tones and lively drumbeat rhythms. Although their fandom, CARATs, has embraced the music video, local listeners encountering it for the first time appear underwhelmed.
Some have even voiced concerns that K-pop should maintain its originality and steer clear of the "Afrobeat" trend that was popularized by Tyla's hit song 'WATER'.

Nah, be original. This ain't it.

im sorry idc if there were black producers either, but this afrobeats trend in kpop is so annoying considering how many idols have no artistic integrity, will not learn the significance behind the music/culture and have constantly made fun of african people throughout the years https://t.co/glKo87ITXe

we must close the portal from africa to korea https://t.co/KSQ5nX0T9i

i think that’s enough of the afrobeat trend in kpop. wrap it up https://t.co/BFdy6DlQ0b

K-Pop’s issue is that it feels like inauthentic cash grabs every time. No affiliation with Amapiano, no known interest, but throw a log drum in there for clout? It’s corny. Music travels and collaboration is part of growth undeniably, but this doesn’t feel like authentically that https://t.co/mamNJChktI

However, amidst all the backlash, SEVENTEEN fans CARATs have remained loyal to their favourites and have supported them for their artistic choices.
