'Our sunshine is home': BTS' J-Hope's South Korean military service ends; ARMY rallies in celebration

The wait for the fandom ARMY is finally over! The ace rapper, main dancer, and the sunshine of the group, Jung Hoseok, also known as J-Hope, was discharged from his mandatory South Korean military service on October 17, 2024. Soon after stepping out of his unit, he was greeted by fellow member Kim Seokjin, who was relieved of his duties just months ago. In fact, Jin's plans to "kidnap" him for his RUN JIN episode were aired on national television in Korea as well.

After walking out, J-Hope interacted with the media and thanked the public and his fans for their support. He mentioned that it was thanks to them that he was able to complete his service in good health. As he prepared to give a speech, the eldest member, Jin, kindly helped him hold the microphones.

While ARMY was expecting another OT7 gathering (with all seven members), like when Jin was discharged, they were still happy to see that, despite his military duties, J-Hope remained the bubbly, ever-smiling person he was when he enlisted. Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) cheered, saying their 'sunshine is home' and 'welcome back, J-Hope!'

About J-Hope:

The idol actively participates in music production and songwriting, playing a significant role in creating new tracks. He released his first solo mixtape, "Hope World," in 2018, followed by his debut solo album, "Jack in the Box," on July 15, 2022. His solo performance at Lollapalooza in 2022 also garnered widespread acclaim.

While still serving in the military, he released "Hope on the Street Vol. 1" on March 29, 2024. This album is part of the "Hope on the Street" project, which includes a six-part documentary series of the same name, launched on March 28, 2024.
