Home Alone catapulted Macaulay Culkin to stardom, leaving an indelible mark as a holiday classic cherished by fans each festive season. Three decades on, Kevin McCallister's (Culkin) misadventures continue to resonate in the hearts of viewers, with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern portraying the bumbling burglars, Harry and Marv, in the timeless 1990 Christmas film.
Christmas holds a special place in my heart," Macaulay Culkin shared in an interview in November 2019. "Between November and January, I get recognized ten times more. I have no idea why." The former child star acknowledged the downside of the festive season, jokingly referring to being "on TV every two seconds" as a "beautiful curse/a tricky blessing.

So let's dive into the lives of the main cast and see what they've been up to since the iconic Home Alone days.
Macaulay Culkin
After roles in My Girl and Wish Kid, the child star reprised Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). Culkin then featured in The Good Son, Richie Rich, and Saved! He had recurring roles on Kings, Robot Chicken, and The Jim Gaffigan Show before his return to film in Changeland. In 2021, he portrayed Mickey in American Horror Story's 10th season. Culkin, a New York native, ventured into comedy, launching the brand Bunny Ears in 2017, complete with a website, podcast, and video content.
Joe Pesci
In the same year Joe Pesci played the bandit Harry in Home Alone, he also starred in Betsy’s Wedding and Goodfellas, a role he reprised in the sequel. The Oscar winner's extensive film career spans JFK, My Cousin Vinny, A Bronx Tale, and the Lethal Weapon franchise. After a hiatus from Hollywood in the early '00s, during which he focused on music and released three albums, Pesci made a comeback with roles in The Good Shepherd, Love Ranch, and The Irishman.
Daniel Stern
Stern graced The Wonder Years and featured in City Slickers between the Home Alone films. Following his role as the airhead Marv in both movies, he appeared in Rookie of the Year, Viva Las Vegas, A Previous Engagement, and returned as Phil Berquist in City Slickers II. The Maryland native also showcased his talent on Dilbert, Regular Joe, Manhattan, and Shrill. Beyond acting, Stern is a sculptor with creations featured in public art projects throughout Southern California.
John Heard
Following his portrayal of Kevin's dad, Peter McCallister, Heard's film credits extended to Radio Flyer, Gladiator, The Pelican Brief, The Guardian, The Lucky Ones, Pray for Rain, and Living Among Us. Hailing from Washington D.C., the actor also left his mark on the small screen with roles in The Client, The Sopranos, Jack & Bobby, Prison Break, and a guest appearance on NCIS: Los Angeles.
Tragically, the actor passed away in July 2017 at the age of 71, succumbing to a heart attack induced by heart disease. He is remembered by his three children, two sons, and one daughter.
Catherine O’Hara
The Canadian native took on the role of Kevin's mom, Kate McCallister, in the first two Home Alone films. Following this, she lent her voice to Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Penny in Over the Hedge, and Mrs. Frankenstein in Frankenweenie. O'Hara's filmography also includes Tall Tale, Best in Show, Surviving Christmas, and For Your Consideration. On the television front, her credits encompass Committed, Glenn Martin DDS, Skylanders Academy, and the acclaimed Schitt's Creek, for which she received an Emmy in 2020.
Devin Ratray
After bringing Kevin's bullying big brother, Buzz, to life in two films, Ratray continued his career with roles in Dennis the Menace, Strong Island Boys, The Prince and Me, Breaking Point, Nebraska, Masterminds, and Rough Night. Additionally, he made appearances on Mosaic, Chicago Med, and The Tick.
In December 2021, the actor made headlines when he received a ticket for assault and battery after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend while staying at an Oklahoma City hotel. Later that month, it was confirmed by Us that Ratray was arrested in connection with the incident.
