Shakira's year has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it's so monumental that she's taking the stage not once but twice at the 2023 Latin GRAMMYs. For one of her performances, the Colombian superstar delivered a heartfelt rendition of her nominated Song of the Year, "Acróstico."
Dressed in a dazzling gold high-cut gown featuring an image of the Virgin Mary, she held a microphone encrusted with rhinestones and gracefully moved across the stage to join her accompanist at the grand piano.
Reclaiming the Throne
The Latin sensation maintained a powerfully regal presence, effortlessly conveying both the strongest love and most delicate emotions in her pop ballad dedicated to her two children, Milan and Sasha. Throughout the telecast, heartwarming clips of Milan and Sasha, who are featured on the track, added a personal touch.
Solidifying her reign as Latin pop's queen, Shakira initially reclaimed her throne in early January through a dynamic collaboration with Argentinian DJ and producer Bizarrap. The scorching impact of "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53," a bold response to Shakira's ex, set the internet ablaze. Notably, this collaboration marked her first top 10 hit on the Billboard 200 in over 16 years, securing the No. 9 spot in January.
Premiere Ceremony Victories
In under two months, Shakira notched another top 10 hit with "TQG," her reggaeton collaboration alongside Colombian powerhouse Karol G. Surging to No. 7 on the Hot 100, the track also claimed the top spot on both Billboard's Global 200 and Hot Latin Songs charts.
Before the 2023 Latin Grammys telecast even began, "TQG" secured Shakira's first victory of the night at the Premiere Ceremony, winning Best Urban Fusion/Performance. The chart-topping collaboration earned additional nominations for Song of the Year and Best Urban Song.
