Selena Gomez is gearing up to return to the wizarding world. During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday, the actress and singer couldn't contain her smile when asked about the news of a potential Wizards of Waverly Place reboot. However, she swiftly corrected host Jimmy Kimmel on his terminology.
"It's not a reboot. It's going to be a different version, I suppose," she explained to Kimmel regarding the project she and David Henrie announced back in January and went on to say that it was fun to reprise the role of her hit Disney show.

Gomez and Henrie Return for Revival
While Gomez is set to make a guest appearance in the pilot episode reprising her beloved character Alex Russo, Henrie will return as Justin Russo, this time as a series regular. The revival was revealed on Instagram in January by both Henrie and the official Disney Channel account, who posted a photo of the script for the pilot episode.
Upon hearing the news, Gomez expressed her excitement by posting a Deadline report about the show on her Instagram Story, adding that she was "so excited" with a heart emoji. She later shared a nostalgic photo of herself and Henrie from the Wizards of Waverly Place set, captioned, "We're back."
Gomez and Henrie Lead Wizards' Next Chapter
Gomez and her former onscreen brother take on roles as executive producers for the series. The show is poised to depict the aftermath of a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has renounced his wizard powers, choosing a conventional human life with his wife and two sons, as per an official synopsis.
Janice LeAnn Brown has been cast in the lead role of Billie, portraying the powerful young wizard requiring training. Alkaio Thiele will portray Justin's eldest son, Roman, while Mimi Gianopulos will assume the role of Justin's wife, Giada.
Earlier this month, Henrie revealed that production had concluded on the pilot episode of "the sequel." He and other cast members commemorated the occasion by signing their names on a set piece, paying homage to a similar gesture from the original show.
Several observant fans spotted Max's signature, accompanied by a message below it stating, "Can't wait for more wizardry!" Although Jake T. Austin, who portrayed the youngest Russo sibling in the original series, has not been officially announced as part of the cast for the new show, his signature has sparked speculation among many fans that he may be involved.
