Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan have a rule where they never keep the family apart for more than 14 days at a time. Susan mentioned to People that while the two-week mark can sometimes feel too long, they make sure not to go beyond that without seeing each other and being together as a family.
Susan, Downey elaborates, "You keep the basic rule of two weeks, and then you don't try and think too far ahead, because so much of what we do is oddly unpredictable."

Navigating Work-Life Balance
Susan, who met Downey while producing the 2003 thriller Gothika, points out that her schedule is a little easier than her husband’s. She mentions that the upside is that she's not in front of the camera. As a producer, she finds herself with a bit more flexibility regarding her location and where she needs to be.
Following his Oppenheimer Oscar win, Downey takes on a significant on-screen role for his next project, appearing as four distinct characters in the HBO series The Sympathizer, set to premiere on April 14th. The espionage series is adapted from the 2015 bestselling novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen.
Diving Deep into Character Transformation
Downey, who underwent a physical transformation, including shaving his head, losing weight, and altering his gait to embody the scheming Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer, once more challenges himself to completely immerse into his role in The Sympathizer.
The series follows the narrative of the Captain, a North Vietnamese mole embedded within the South Vietnamese army. As the Vietnam War nears its end, he is compelled to escape to the United States alongside his general. Settling within a community of South Vietnamese refugees, he grapples with his dual identity, torn between his allegiances to the Viet Cong and his new life in America.
Joining Downey in the main cast are Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Kieu Chinh, and Sandra Oh. The series, comprising 7 episodes, is set to premiere on HBO Max on April 14th.
