Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are remembering the late Lance Reddick, especially after the recent season finale, which honored him with a title card at the end of the episode. Reddick, who passed away at 60 on March 17, was also the primary focus of discussion during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour panel for the Disney+ series on Saturday.
Recasting Zeus
During the event, a member of the audience queried the show's creators about who would take on Reddick's role in the upcoming episodes. Reddick portrayed Zeus, the formidable god of sky and thunder, who accuses Percy Jackson (portrayed by Walker Scobell) of stealing his lightning bolt.

Jon Steinberg, co-creator and executive producer, admitted to feeling a sense of denial about the task of replacing Reddick. He further mentioned that they currently had no replacement in mind and expressed gratitude to the late actor for the grandeur he brought to the role.
A Heartfelt Message
Dan Shotz, another executive producer, revealed that they received a text message from Reddick's wife, Stephanie Reddick, expressing her thoughts on Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She conveyed that Reddick was proud of the work he had contributed to the show.
Prior to his role in Percy Jackson, which marked Reddick's final TV appearance, the actor portrayed Charon in the John Wick film series and delivered memorable performances in acclaimed shows like American Horror Story, Bosch, Fringe, and The Wire.
Following Reddick's passing, which occurred just one week before the release of John Wick: Chapter 4 in 2023, his wife honored his memory with a poignant black-and-white Instagram photo. In the caption, she expressed gratitude to everyone who cherished him and his acting.
