Paul Rudd returns in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, taking the wheel of the iconic Ecto-1. Building on the events of 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the franchise continues with a new adventure, as an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force. Both new and familiar Ghostbusters unite to prevent a second ice age and save the world.
Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson reprise their iconic roles from the original Ghostbusters series. They join Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace in the cast, with Hudson making a brief appearance in Afterlife.

Paul Rudd's Dream Come True
Speaking to THR at the New York premiere of the movie, the actor expressed how thrilling it was to work on the film, especially alongside the original trio. He described the experience as surreal, considering he grew up watching the movies and is a longtime fan.
The Ecto-1 makes a return, with Rudd taking the driver's seat. He disclosed that the car was one of the originals from the 1984 film. While acknowledging that much of the driving was handled by the stunt team, Rudd expressed how surreal it was to drive the iconic vehicle. He considered it an honor to join the select few who have had the opportunity to drive such an iconic car.
Reflecting on Ghostbusters' Enduring Legacy
Aykroyd expressed his satisfaction at returning to the Ghostbusters universe after the original film and its 1989 sequel. He described it as fulfilling both artistically and as an actor to be invited back to reprise his role. Aykroyd also mentioned the gratification of seeing the idea they all created years ago being embraced by audiences once again.
Hudson emphasized the significance of revitalizing the franchise and bringing it back into the public eye. He noted the fans' anticipation, indicating a long-awaited return. Reflecting on their appearance in Afterlife, which included Murray and themselves alongside Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler via CGI, Hudson and Aykroyd described the experience as deeply emotional.
Even though Frozen Empire marks the fifth installment in the franchise, including the 2016 all-female reboot featuring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, it's not the end. Plans are underway for future installments, suggesting that the Ghostbusters saga is far from over.
