Ahead of the 2024 Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel, slated to helm the awards for the fourth occasion, sat down with Good Morning America to dissect the nuances of Hollywood's most illustrious night. In an interview with Lara Spencer, aired on Thursday, Kimmel disclosed that his return to hosting duties was largely influenced by the quality of films vying for accolades at the 96th Academy Awards.
Jimmy Kimmel's Take on the 2024 Oscar Nominees
He shared, "There were some really good movies…I think they're all really good. I saw them all." He added that it helped a lot that this year's nominees were popular, making it easier to write jokes about them. Kimmel mentioned that he had predicted the Greta Gerwig-directed movie would be nominated at the Oscars after he went to see the film at a movie theater.

During the interview, Kimmel also spilled the beans on one of the most anticipated moments of the night: when Barbie star Ryan Gosling is slated to grace the stage with a performance of his surprise hit from the film, 'I'm Just Ken.' Kimmel noted that it's a grand production and emphasized Gosling's dedication to delivering his best.
What to Expect According to Jimmy Kimmel
Regarding what the audience could anticipate from the 2024 Oscars, Kimmel pointed out that the awards show would commence an hour earlier than usual. Despite the adjustment, Kimmel humorously remarked,"We're not ending earlier. We're just starting early. Okay. So it's still going to be long."
Kimmel first took the helm as Oscars host in 2017 and has reprised the role for the 90th and 95th Academy Awards in 2018 and 2023, respectively. Joining the ranks of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, and Bob Hope, Kimmel stands as one of the few to host the prestigious event multiple times. However, despite speculation about a potential fifth stint, Kimmel revealed that this year's Oscars would mark his final hosting gig for the foreseeable future.
The 2024 Oscars are scheduled for Sunday and will be broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. In India, the show will be streamed live on Disney+Hotstar starting at 4 am.
