A Decades-Long Collaboration
Apart from collaborating on 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Depp has teamed up with director Burton on numerous occasions. Their partnership began with 1990's Edward Scissorhands and continued with projects like Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
When Burton received the Lumière lifetime achievement award at the Lumière Film Festival in 2022, he spoke about his collaborations with Depp. According to Variety, Burton expressed, "I connected with him when I met him for Edward Scissorhands. He was similar to me, kind of suburban white trash. It was not even a verbal understanding."
The movie museum shared photos from the recent visit on Instagram, announcing in the caption that on the occasion of his short stay in Turin, they had the honor of hosting Johnny Depp for a private visit to the exhibition.
