The 81st Golden Globes Award took place with much fanfare marking the first integral felicitation ceremony of 2024. The event was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Check out who managed to win big on the occasion.
Cillian Murphy and Emma Stone win big
It is Cillian Murphy who took home the Best Actor Award in the Motion Picture, Drama category for his stellar performance in Oppenheimer. He gave a shoutout to director Christopher Nolan in a rather humorous way while receiving the award. Murphy said, “I knew the first time I walked on a Christopher Nolan set that it was different. I could tell by the level of rigor, the level of focus, the level of dedication, and the complete lack of any seating options for actors. That I was in the hands of the visionary director and master.”

In the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category, it was the talented Emma Stone who won big for Poor Things. The movie marked a unique take on Frankenstein. Though the movie could not do wonders at the box office, Stone did full justice to her role.

Robert Downey Jr won Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer
The Best Motion Picture in the Animated Category went to The Boy And The Heron while the Greta Gerwig directorial Barbie won in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. Anatomy Of A Fall won in the Best Motion Picture Non-English Language category while Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers. Robert Downey Jr won Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer while Christopher Nolan won Best Director for the biographical drama.
Elizabeth Debicki won Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown. Matthew Macfadyen won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Television Series for his performance in Succession. Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin won in the Best Actor and Actress category in a Television Drama series for Succession.
