Dua Lipa talks about getting a nod from Katy Perry

Dua Lipa, the Grammy winner, recently spoke with Rolling Stone, sharing her feelings about befriending Perry after admiring the pop superstar while growing up. She fondly reminisced about being pulled up on stage to dance with Perry at the age of 15.

"I love Katy! I am friends with Katy. I think she’s amazing," Lipa expressed affectionately. Perry even attended one of the concerts of the "Dance the Night" singer in 2018 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Lipa's Memorable Moment with Katy Perry

Lipa reminisced about her teenage years when she attended Perry's show at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. During that time, Perry's performances featured a segment where she covered Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and invited fans, including Lipa, to join her on stage for a dance.

Perry often brought fans onstage during her California Dreams Tour, and Lipa spontaneously joined in, dancing along. As of today, Lipa has developed a close bond with Perry and has garnered the singer's endorsement. Lipa finds it incredibly uplifting to receive an acknowledgment from someone she deeply admires.

Predicting Dua Lipa's Rise to Stardom

Perry expressed her admiration for the performer in a Rolling Stone interview last year, reminiscing about attending Lipa's Hollywood Palladium show and predicting her imminent rise to fame. She confidently stated her belief that Lipa would become a star, even recalling leaving work early just to catch Lipa's 2018 performance.

During a 2019 interview with ELLE, Lipa shared a poignant piece of guidance she received from Perry. Recounting their meeting, Lipa mentioned how Perry advised her against Googling her own name—a time when Lipa found herself distressed by negative tabloid coverage.

Bringing Radical Optimism to the Stage

Just last week, Lipa made the official announcement about her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which comprises 11 tracks and is slated for release on May 3. The singer is gearing up to take her latest album on the road this summer, with headline performances scheduled in several cities.

Lipa confirmed via social media that she will be gracing stages in Berlin, Pula, and Nimes, including an outdoor show at Berlin's Waldbühne on June 5 and at Croatia's Pula Arena on June 9. Additionally, she is set to headline the Friday night of the renowned Glastonbury festival in June, sharing the spotlight with fellow headliners SZA and Coldplay.
